The Process
What to expect
Periodontal charting
We measure the depth of the pockets between your teeth and gums. Healthy pockets are 1–3mm; anything deeper indicates disease.
Scaling below the gumline
We remove hardened tartar deposits from root surfaces using ultrasonic and hand instruments - this is what a standard cleaning can't reach.
Root planing
Root surfaces are smoothed to discourage bacteria from reattaching, helping the gum tissue reattach and heal.
Maintenance schedule
Most periodontal patients move to 3–4 month maintenance visits instead of the standard six-month cadence to keep disease from progressing.
